THANKS for reporting on the BATF "Fast & Furious" arms debacle. Good work! This BATF arms "sting" operation reminds me of the drug-sting operations that the DOJ was involved in during the 1980's and 1990's. After years of investigations, I couldn't understand why a federal drug-sting operation lasted for 10 years and there were no arrests!
Currently I am particularly interested in Congressman Darrell Issa's face-off with Attorney General Eric Holder on "Fast & Furious." It looks like Issa is now getting a taste of what his predecessors have been experiencing for a long time, i.e., DOJ stonewalling. Eric Holder will, of course, say he had no knowledge of Operation "Fast & Furious" and he probably didn't. It is his long-term "lieutenants" at the DOJ who really run the show there.
I live in Darrell Issa's district, and visited his Vista, California district office on February 25, 2011 to request an investigation of various attorneys in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. who have a history of covering up and obstructing federal investigations of criminal activity in Los Angeles and other areas, including the destruction of incriminating documents (secret reports of federal investigations) stored at the national archives.
At Issa's office in February, I met with Phil Paule, Issa's District Director, and provided him with details to initiate an investigation of members of the DOJ by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the House Committee on the Judiciary. Rep. Darrell Issa is a member of both Committees.
I had originally sent Darrell Issa a long letter with a copy of The Last Circle book in December 2010 and marked the pages in the book relative to the individuals within the DOJ that needed to be investigated. One of these individuals is currently the highest ranking Associate Deputy Attorney General under Eric Holder at the Department of Justice. (According to a source who obtained FOIA documents, Eric Holder and this individual go way back to the mid-1990's when they jointly investigated and allegedly covered up aspects of the OKC bombing case).
I know Rep. Issa's Lebanese-American aide at his Washington D.C. office read The Last Circle book because he commented on it and it was spotted sitting on his desk.
I seriously doubt that Rep. Issa and his Committee members have any idea of how entrenched Eric Holder's long-term "lieutenants" at the DOJ are in relation to former presidential administrations. This goes far beyond any political barriers. If Darrell Issa ever read the letter I sent to him and his Committee members, then he should know that. I wanted to put Issa in touch with prestigious former career DOJ attorneys who could provide him with important "inside" information, but Issa never responded to me.
One lawyer who works for Issa on the staff of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is Ashok.Pinto. He knows plenty, though I've never met him or communicated with him. These are the e-mail addresses for Darrel Issa and his District Director in California:
